Our library has a warm, cozy Children’s Area, featuring a bright, imaginative mural painted by George Menser. We have sections for Picture Books, Early Reader books, and Juvenile Fiction. Our juvenile nonfiction is merged with the adult nonfiction; don’t hesitate to ask if you need help finding anything. Our staff is happy to help!
We host a Preschool Story Hour every Friday (weather permitting) October through May, except when school is out of session (such as Christmas and Thanksgiving breaks). There are stories, crafts, and games.
Our Summer Learning Program is held for four weeks every July/August. This year’s theme is Build a Better World. It will be held each Friday from 10 a.m. to noon, July 7 through August 4, for children ages pre-school through 12. There are stories, games, crafts, snacks, special speakers, and free books!
We participate in the Cruise Into Kindergarten program. A special free play session for pre-school children is held on the last Saturday of each month from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m., with toys from the Play K program. We also have toys from the Wee Build program available at all times in the Children’s Area.
The Library Director, Terri Foster, is available to visit pre-schools, daycare centers, home-school groups, and schools, to read to children, bring toys and games from the library’s collection, and speak about resources available at the library. Please call the library at (814) 634-0512 for further information.
